Who is “That Prophet”?

The aim of this article is to enlighten Christians about the fact that there was one more Prophet to come after Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him). This article is not conclusive as to who that Prophet is but definitely hints on other verses of the Bible and definitely proves that one more was to come.

And this is the testimony of John. When the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests and Levites (to him) to ask him, “Who are you?” he admitted and did not deny it, but admitted, “I am not the Messiah.” So they asked him, “What are you then? Are you Elijah?” And he said, “I am not.” “Are you THE PROPHET?” He answered, “No.””
John 1:19-21

This clearly shows that the Jews were waiting for three people!

I had a discussion with a Christian who claimed that “The Prophet” is Jesus. I will post that entire discussion below which will contain even more verses like this one.

Christian: “The Prophet” is Jesus.

Muslim: Jesus is The Prophet? No buddy! This is not it.The Jews asked three questions,
1. Are you Elijah?
2. Are you Massiah?
3. Are you The Prophet?

The Prophet is different from Massiah.

Some in the crowd who heard these words said, “This is truly the Prophet.” Others said, “This is the Messiah.” But others said, “The Messiah will not come from Galilee, will he? Does not scripture say that the Messiah will be of David’s family and come from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?” So a division occurred in the crowd because of him.”

John 7:40-43

See? Massiah and The Prophet are different persons.

Christian: Yes,they thought so thats all. They also thought Jesus in His language which they understood more than you or I,was claiming to be God…again you are being inconsistent in acceoting one implication of your reasoning and rejecting another….if you can accept their interpretation of Sacred Scripture, you can surelly accept their knowledge of their language.

Muslim: What Jews believed about Jesus is irrelevant and what they believe about Massiah and The Prophet being different persons is relevant.I will explain why. They had their own books and they used to follow them and were waiting for three different personalities judging from their books. The Jews asked John the Baptist three questions and he replied in the negative as I have posted before. He denied being Elijah, he denied being Massiah and denied being The Prophet. He did not correct them, neither did Jesus correct them because this is what they also believed. When Jesus was asked about all this, he replied that Elijah has already come and gone and that he is the Massiah. Now, the only person left is “The Prophet”.

And this is the testimony of John. When the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests and Levites (to him) to ask him,

“Who are you?” he admitted and did not deny it, but admitted,

1. “I am not the Messiah.” So they asked him, “What are you then?

2. Are you Elijah?” And he said, “I am not.”

3. “Are you THE PROPHET?” He answered, “No.””

John 1:19-21

Three different people. Now as you argued that Jews were thinking wrong and did not know, to this I have replied that no body ever corrected them. They denied Jesus when he came but they never denied the existance of someone to come. They just aid that it is not him and so their understanding of someone to come was not wrong but recognising the one was definitely wrong.

Moses might have foretold Jesus but the jews were correct and Peter and Paul were wrong.”

“The reader’s comments below are interesting and I have replied to your query there.”

Please see the blog and see the material under “Christianity and Judaism”, tonnes of prophecies there.

Christian: That argument does not work…arguments from silence are always weakBut let me give you a counterexample anywayIf silence is assent,ie if not saying anything means agreeingThen there are many instances where Jesus was worshipped and He didn;t correct the Jews either,so by your argument,He was assenting.

Muslim: Jesus was never worshipped! A man came to him and asked him, “Good master, what should I do to achieve heaven?” Jesus replied “Why do you call me good? There is only one good and that is God” He further told him to keep the commandments! Silence here means yes because a Prophet is a messenegr of God and if they see anything wrong happening, they object to it and correct the people instead of just remaining silent. A Prophet has three ways of preaching,

1) Direct orders

2) Doing something but not ordering it

3) Someone doing something and the Prophet remaining silent.Furthermore, he did not remain silent, he replied in the negative to the question that he is not “The Prophet”.

Christian: You will essentially be arguing against your own stated proposition nowJesus was never worshipped! Really?Just one9:38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.

Muslim: Was Jesus worshipped? What do you mean by worship? Do you mean bowing down to someone? Brother, you must read your OT. I know Christians don’t like it but it is a must read. Esau bowed down to Jacob. It was an ancient Israeli custom.

GOD’S WORD® Translation (©1995)

The man bowed in front of Jesus and said, “I believe, Lord.” Abraham’s wife calls him “my lord”.

So bowing and saying Lord means nothing! Jesus remained silent to this bowing down because this was not worshipping as God but obeying and respecting as a human and following Israeli customs.

What did John say? He said that he is not Elijah. He said that he is not the Massiah. He said that he is not the Massiah.

“And this is the testimony of John.

John rejected being Elijah or any other two people to come but the disciples misunderstood.

“…Eli’jah does come, and he is to restore all things; but I tell you that Eli’jah has already come, and they did not know him … Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.”

Matthew 17:11-13

The disciples are ill-knowledged and go against John’s personal claims. You earlier said that the Jews misunderstood. This is true, they did but also the disciples.

Belief of general public:

“Some in the crowd who heard these words said, “This is truly the Prophet.” Others said, “This is the Messiah.” But others said, “The Messiah will not come from Galilee, will he? Does not scripture say that the Messiah will be of David’s family and come from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?” So a division occurred in the crowd because of him.”

John 7:40-43

Belief of disciples:

“And they asked him, and said unto him, why baptizest thou then, if thou be

a) NOT THAT CHRIST,

b) NOR ELIAS,

c) NEITHER THAT PROPHET?”

John 1:25

See? Three separate people!

Belief of John the baptist:

“And this is the testimony of John.

“… “Who do men say that the Son of man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Eli’jah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Servant of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you …” Matthew 16:13-17The New KJV commentary explains that the Greek word “pais” has two meanings, “son” and “servant”. From the beliefs of the general public, John the Baptist and Jesus, we see that three separate people had to come. Furthermore, from the above mentioned belief of Jesus, we see that son of man and Jesus are two separate people.

Son of man is Muhammad: http://www.truthisproven.blogspot.com/

Christian: “… “Who do men say that the Son of man is?”…Son of man is Muhammad:

ROTFLOL

This is either plain ignorance of Jesus just an ignoring of JesusJohn 5:25-27 (NKJV)Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man

Muslim: Son of man? This is what the disciples thought. They thought that he was the son of man whereas Jesus rebuked their belief. http://islamicweb.com/bible/good6.htm

The above link has an article by a bishop and see who the son of man really is!More details here: http://www.truthisproven.blogspot.com/

Son of man is one title referred to Jesus but he is not the son of man of the OT. They are different.
